We Truly Missed the Boat

My dad told me earlier this week that my sunglasses were obnoxious, they are too big! But thinking about it, oversized accessories seem to be some of my favorites. These earrings were longer then my hair until 2 weeks ago, but that may just be why I love them: they cause a statement. Like the sunglasses, you just pop them on and they make the whole outfit that much more "fashion forward" (to use a term my dad said when he tried to make obnoxious not seem so bad). Playing on with the oversized theme, the Top Drapé from Comptior des Cotonniers is perfect to get the slouchy, baggy feel, without feeling like you are swimming in a potato sack (and I know we all hate that feeling). 
The phrase in the title comes from one of my favorite songs Missed the Boat by Modest Mouse. There is one exert from lyric that seems so true to me:
Of course everyone goes crazy
Over such and such and such
We made ourselves a pillar
We just used it as a crutch
We were certainly uncertain
At least I'm pretty sure I am
Well we didn't need the water
But we just built that good God dam
