Take Her Back

I've found out I have this weird obsession with dresses. Literally, I think I may be addicted. But when spring time comes around, something simple and easy and flowy and girly like a dress is just perfect: it allows you to feel feminine yet not stuffy. This one below is from Zara, and loose skirt is what attracted me to it. It is like wearing a night gown: insanely comfortable.

I'm going through an alternative rock phase: The Pigeon Detectives being one of my new finds. Their song "Take Her Back" has been on replay since I got it... 2 weeks ago. But being on vacation (yay for easter!), it has let me find new music. Any good bands I need to know? I've also added a lot of Scouting For Girls and Parachute. :) Extremely good bands.

Have a great week! :D

Float On

Black and grey are starting to really bore me now. I just wonder: why is it that when it gets cold, people resort to darker colors? Now let me clarify: I still wear black and grey - all the time - yet, every now and then, it's time to spice it up, and hope that soon summer will be here. Cause let's be frank, I cannot wait for the sun. Not even warmth, I just want to see the sun.

School starts up again tomorrow, followed by 3 days of gorgeous, wonderful, totally epic, i-cannot-wait-i-may-pee-my-pants ski camp. I'm completely excited and I cannot wait to finally see my friends again after 3 long hard weeks of well... not seeing them.

Float On by Modest Mouse is such an inspirational song. Seriously, I just love it.
"Well I backed into a cop car the other day, well he just drove on sometimes life okay..."

and sorry if your country won't allow you watch it. Trust me, I understand. It's a pain.

Olha Que Coisa Mais Linda

http://elleandco.blogspot.com/
A gorgeous inspiration blog that I follow myself. I absolutely love it. It is in french, but it features many great advertisements, editorials and celebrity shots. Fabulous :)

My inner girly girl has been going crazy as of late, and with my birthday drawing near, school drawing to a close and christmas around the corner - it hasn't been getting much attention.  But my knack (GAH. Haven't used that word in a while) for innovation is coming back, seen above as I have folded up one of my favorite shirts and wore is over a dress. It beats buying a new skirt by, oh, i don't know, NINE THOUSAND HUNDRED GAZILLION miles (but that's just a guesstemation).

So much going on, but I'm still thankful every day for you guys. If you have any suggestions for the blog, don't be afraid to tell me. I love hearing what you think!

P.S. Estou tendo um momento revival português. :P

Every time We Touch

These photos were taken in front of my "famous" (and by famous, I mean my 5 best friends think it's pretty cool) wall of models. I've been working on it since I've moved here, and I'm about half way through the wall.

Update on the 5.5K I ran yesterday: I ran it in 37 mins! I'm very proud of myself! It was freezing and snowing but my sisters and I pushed though.
Have an amazing sunday. :)
Don't forget to comment on my post goodies goodies goodies. with your favorite ASOS piece to be featured in a post coming soon!

P.S. The best version of Every time We Touch by Cascada is this slow one. I can listen to it for hours and hours. Absolutely amazing.

The Princess and the Pea

It's a beautiful day here in der Schweiz. Seriously, this is the first time it HASN'T been raining for maybe... a week? Its nice to finally have some sunshine. :)

This is actually my sister jacket. I am just in love with the shape and the large buttons on the front. It almost has a childish element, with the velveteen collar.

bb dakota jacket, random tights found in the abyss that is my closet.

The 5.5k is drawing closer, and I am legitly freaking out. I definitely need to kick my training into high gear.

I have been obsessed with jean shirts lately. Anyone know where they sell cute yet cheap ones? I may want to try out this trend. :)

have a FANTABULOUS weekend! :)

Fashion Days Zurich

Let me tell you something: I have never been to a proper fashion show. Never in my life. Since I was young, I used to always marvel at the pictures in magazines: the models strutting down the runway; the overly done hair and makeup, in perfect place of course - and that dream has never left me. My dream finally come true. I had the upmost pleasure tonight to go to the final day of Fashion Days Zurich and I genuinely had a blast. It was the international designers night, with designer Guido Maria Kretschmer and fashion power-house Missoni showing their collections.

Guido Maria Kretschmer

I adored Guido Maria Kretschmer's collection: it had a very 1940's vintage feel, saturated in glamour head pieces and structured forms. Hair was worn up in tight curls, and femininity was the theme. I loved the muted color palette, though a pop of color in pink would appear every now and then. Kretschmer played with ruffles in the collection, having them laying flat against the garment. If I would have to get one piece from the collection, it would have to be the black polka-dotted trench coat, though the whole collection was just gorgeous!

Missoni

My personal favorite part of the Missoni show was at the end, when all the models marched on the catwalk in a huge pack. It was such a strong statement, the colors contrasting against each other. The Missoni collection was inspired "By Anger": the models' makeup being strong, dark black lips. Patchwork designs were apparent in the collection, though I must say my favorite piece was a simple knit pullover (3rd photo down). It was interesting styling with the chokers worn over turtle-necks, and I personally would have never thought of that. Innovative.

Following the shows, there was a musical performance by Mike Posner, which was fantastic. He sang his new song "Please Don't Go" from his new album 31 Minutes to Take Off. It was very catchy, and I loved it. The whole experience of getting to go to Fashion Days Zurich was just immaculate, I loved the venue; it was easy to see from my seat (partially thanks to the girl in front of me was rather short), it only started 17 minutes late (in true Swiss style. Clocks really are our thing),  and I enjoyed the complimentary goodie bag: discounts at Oschner Shoes and Smashbox Cosmetics; a free Veet bottle; some magazines. I hope to once again get to go to another fashion show, especially Fashion Days Zurich. It has received top marks (oh gosh, school term) in my mind.

Have a great weekend! :)

p.s. Please don't go...

The Office.

forever 21 ring, the gap skirt

when my sister gave me this skirt for christmas, i was thrilled. it was cute, neutral, and plaid (almost anything i could ever want!) but then when i tried it on, there was a problem.

it was 2 sizes too big.
but i've found that with skirt that are too large for you, if you just belt the top, shabam! problem solved.

i paired the skirt with a large, gothic flower ring, which is personally my favorite piece of my outfit today. maybe its the large groves in the stones? i'm not very sure. i've found that wearing more classic pieces, the plaid skirt, with funkier pieces, the ring, really adds up to a cute combination.

anything you've had to alter to look better?
have a great weekend!

beijos!

these guys are amazing!

When I Grow Up

cadieu shirt (from france!!!), skirt from nordstroms, shoes from zara

I've noticed that a great combination for me is stripes and florals. I'm not sure why, but i believe that the bold lines next to the feminine flowers creates an elegant picture for the eye. I have probably worn the floral and stripes combo about 3 times this week (as well as in this post!). Another thing i've been obsessed with lately is wearing my hair up in a ballerina bun (or at least as close as i can get with shorter hair!). It feels nice to get my hair off my shoulders.

also, if you havent noticed, menina elegante now has a new layout? what do you think? tell me your thoughts!

bjs!

p.s. great cover of when i grow up by the pussycat dolls!

An Abundance of Katharines

forever 21 shirt, anthropologie skirt, amisu boots, mims owl necklace

if you didn't know, i love feminine things. skirt especially. i don't know why but something about a nice full long skirt makes me feel beautiful. maybe its the air of elegance that comes with a longer skirt, that short skirts miss out on, and also a sense of freedom (from being nervous that if you bend over, everyone will get to know you very well. :P) i've been noticing that girly touches are coming back into my life. today, i wore the shirt above with the sash from this post to school with just some jeans and some sperry's. and i felt gorgeous. i didn't care if anyone else thought i looked bad, because who cares what they say! the lace of the shirt just makes me feel lovely and poised.

i hope you have a fantastic day!
i would love to thank all my readers. you are what run this blog for me! :)

bjs!!

and whats playing on my ipod right now? mayday parade!
